Find me on:

 2014

What a year it has been for Yorkshire. Thanks to having the privilege of hosting the Tour de France Grand Depart, ‘God’s Own County’ is now an all but global household name.

In fact if they handed out an award for the most achieving county of the year, 2014 would have to go to Yorkshire.

It’s also been quite a year for Carrwood Park. In between attending to our clients’ every whim and ensuring our meeting rooms, serviced offices, co-working centre, myriad of facilities and ample grounds stay in tip-top condition, the Carrwood Park team has achieved quite a lot on the quiet and so have our clients!

Have a look back at some of the best achievements of 2014 for Yorkshire, Carrwood Park and some of our clients and why it’s easy to understand why local folk are ‘Proud to be Yorkshire’.

The Grand Depart

We’ll start with the biggest achievement. This summer thousands of spectators flocked to Yorkshire’s roadsides keen to catch the county make history and see some of the world’s best athletes go whizzing by.

What was unanimously deemed as a huge success at the time has been officially proven with the recent publication of the ‘Three Inspirational Days’ report. This 64-page document details the benefits staging the start of the world’s biggest cycling event brings to a county.

So spectacular was Yorkshire’s hosting of the first stage of the race that it prompted Christian Prudhomme, the Tour’s race director, to describe it as the “grandest Grand Depart.”

Yorkshire has its first win in county cricket in 13 years

Joyous scenes erupted around Yorkshire in September when the county’s cricketers won the English County Championship, for the first time since 2001.

A well-deserved win over Nottinghamshire meant, once again, Yorkshire’s cricketers are in the limelight.

Yorkshire businessman wins ‘Business Person of the Year Award

Business has been booming in Yorkshire during 2014 and just to prove it a local businessman won the highly prestigious and sought-after ‘Business Person of the Year Award.’

Jason Mace, Managing Director of Gala Tent Ltd, a marquee manufacturing firm and owner of Double Barrel Steakhouse in Thurcoft, accepted the Business Person of the Year Award in Sheffield in November 2014.

Leeds is recognised as having the ‘best value hotels’

Being the only city outside London to have a Harrods and with a number of great shopping venues offering a diverse spectrum of shopping, Leeds retail scene is rivalled by little.

Neither are its hotels, apparently. According to a Yorkshire Post survey which looks at hotels and accommodation around the world, Leeds leads the way in providing the best value accommodation amongst British cities.

Carrwood Events

So it’s certainly been a proactive, vibrant and successful year for the Yorkshire County in general in 2014 but what about here at Carrwood Park, what have been our most noteworthy achievements.

Involved in internal networking events in leeds

The Carrwood Park team have long cited the benefits networking brings to professionals and businesses. 2014 saw Carrwood ‘put its money where its mouth is’ by starting to run internal networking events.

This year Carrwood held its legendary bonfire, which we have to admit,

was our busiest so far. The event, which started inside in the warm with coffee and ginger bread men, was loved by all who

attended.
